Our Work: Anesthesia Carts
Anesthesia Carts
The Challenge
If adding computers into an operating room isn't complicated enough, installing a PC on an anesthesia machine can seem nearly impossible. An anesthesia machine for a heart room can resemble a one-man-band; an instrument attached to every limb. Now imagine asking the musician to hold a laptop. More and more hospitals are asking Seamless to do just that; add a laptop to an existing anesthesia cart. The necessity outweighs the mounting restriction.
The Solutions
Seamless is able to make simple modifications to these carts to create function out of chaos. In every situation we’ve had a list of items we needed to mount to the cart. Items included a PC, touchscreen LCD, keyboard and mouse, bar code scanner, utility engine driver and a battery backup. After evaluating the cart and relocating some items, we added mounting channel customized for the cart. We then selected a mount that was tested for weight distribution and tilt capacity for safety. After the anesthesiologists evaluated and approved the demo cart, we implemented this solution on all the units. Installation was completed evenings and weekends to avoid disrupting staff or patients.
